Last Week of School??

Seriously. How is this the last week of school?? Time has been weird this spring. (I have used the word weird a LOT this year!) It feels like I haven't seen my students or received any student bear-hugs in forever, but it's already June 8. Time has been slow and fast at the same time. One of my trainings called this Gradually then Suddenly. It feels like time is dragging on, but all of a sudden, here we are - almost done!

Each day this week, we are spending an hour in Morning Meeting, sharing pictures and memories. We share how we're feeling, and most people are happy, some are "meh," others are excited for middle school, and others are sad. I'm totally not surprised by the range of emotions. This has been an unusual, unprecedented period in our history, one that we have never in our lifetimes experienced, and with medicine and modern science, will hopefully never experience again!

This week, Mr. Knott had a sign put up in the front yard of our school that we can go take pictures with. The Art team also added eyes to the shrubbery! It's pretty wild and awesome at the same time. Our school has a sense of humor, and that's awesome! If you take yourself too seriously, you miss out on the fun. I'm so glad our school and staff know that, too! Maybe that's why it feels like family.

To my students, I know we've said this before, but this is never how we want to end our elementary careers and school years. This is a strange kind of lonely: we're together in Meets, but we feel so far apart. I hope you are able to find ways to connect to others, either through games, FaceTime, and other methods of communicating. I hope your family has been able to be there for each other. I hope you have someone to talk with. I hope you're doing okay. I truly hope you keep in touch and let me know how you're doing. As I said in our Meet this morning, you are such a memorable class for so many reasons! Know that I support you and send you all the love and encouragement I can. You are awesome and unique and amazing - and I'm proud of you! Once a Colt, Always a Colt!
