I know I mentioned that we're watching a lot of
cooking videos on YouTube from Bon Appetit and other places. One of our
favorites is when they show you dozens of ways to prepare the same food, like
59 methods to cook eggs and 63 ways to cook potatoes. We watched the 32 methods
to make pizza. Some of them are just weird. Like really strange! Some we will never try because we're not going to buy some specialized wood-pellet-burning pizza oven that cooks pizzas in 3 minutes. We're also not going to buy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza Oven. (The chef wasn't impressed that that one, either!)
We watched several grill methods, some which required specialized pizza stones and other things we don't have and can't go buy right now, anyhow. We decided to try one of these methods with one of the pizza dough balls we got at the grocery store. We cut the dough into thirds (See?? Fractions in REAL LIFE!) and stretched it out.
We brushed the top with olive oil, put it oil side down on the grill, brushed oil on the other side, and let it cook for about 3 minutes. We flipped it over and topped it off with sauce and cheese, then let it cook another 3-4 minutes. It was FAST!
The pizza was grilled, a little crispy, a little charred like brick oven pizza, and cheesy. I realized this would be harder if we needed to add toppings on the pizza, like veggies, since we had to top it while it is on the grill, but luckily, we like cheese pizza. My daughters and Mr. Arnwine liked it so much, we did it again 2 days later but cut it into quarters! They were kind of right triangles. (Wait!? Geometry, too?!??)
So in this month when we seem to have a lot more time to experiment and try new things, we're learning to be open-minded and try something we've never done before. We have discovered our new favorite way to make pizza! Have you experimented or tried anything new this week? Share it with me! I'm looking for ideas :) 💖
