Teacher Parades: All the Feels!

Oh. My! You have NO idea how much your teachers needed that parade last week. First, it was amazing to see all of the other teachers and staff members from CCE! (Of course at a distance - we follow the rules!) We usually see each other every day, so we feel like family. We miss each other.

But the best part of the teacher parade was getting to see so many of YOU - our students! We liked seeing your parents and siblings, too, but we miss you! A LOT! Every day!! Once you are our students, you will ALWAYS be our students. I talk about my home kids (my own daughters) and my school kids (all of the students I have had the privilege of teaching over my 15 years teaching).

My eyes are actually tearing up right now typing this because I'm sad that we can't see each other right now, though we are working hard to create ways to keep in touch in Google Classroom. Your teachers miss you like crazy! I know I have said this before and I'll say it again, but the sad comes in waves, when I am reminded of something that I miss.

My daughters' school had their teacher parade on Friday, the day after our parade. We made signs to tell their teachers how much they are missed. We even got to see Mrs. Vinson as she drove her husband to see HIS students. And my eyes teared up again because I knew how happy their teachers must have been to see ALL of their students lined up to greet them with signs! Today, my neighbor, Mrs. Roberts, is decorating her car because Legacy is having their parade, and I know how excited she is to see all of HER students. Some schools are actually being told they can't do parades, and I feel sorry for those teachers and students. There is something amazing about seeing each other, even at a safe distance. It's good for our souls!

So for your teachers, that parade through your neighborhood streets reminded us of all the great relationships we've built with you - our students and families. And yes, many of us cried - happy tears because we got to see so many of our kiddos. Thank you! Thanks for the signs and the cheers! Thanks for coming out to wave! Thanks for being you!
