Today, I had the opportunity to visit every single student's house
from my homeroom, plus 8 more students from Mrs. Landman's & Mrs. Hill's
class. This is the first time I've ever visited every single house, and I have to say, I enjoyed it! When I made my route map, it was interesting to realize how close some of you live near each other. My map was a little over 2 hours long, not including the time for stops, then I added in 8 more stops. In total, it took me a little over 4 hours, but it was WORTH IT! I left my house at 2:00pm and finally got home around 6:45, including an extra stop back at CCE to return someone's library books. (It was on my way!). I very much appreciate all of the invitations in for a short visit, but that and the much-missed hugs will have to wait until social distancing is a memory and we're allowed to visit freely again. You are all so kind and generous!
I think maybe in the future, I will visit students' homes at the beginning of the year. I know some teachers do that, and I think it might help me get to know my future students better. Maybe new traditions will be born from the crazy ending of this school year.
I truly appreciate the excitement I experienced from both students and parents, and it made my heart happy to see my kiddos - I've MISSED you all so much! I know we've said this a thousand times, but while this is not the ending of the year anyone would have chosen, we have done our best to make the best of it. We've managed to stay connected because we already had good relationships in the classroom. I'm proud of you ALL! (Parents included!!)
For those students with younger siblings returning to CCE, I hope you will stop by to say hello when we are able to visit in school. For those of you without siblings, we'll have to find reasons to stop by to say hi. I hope you enjoy having a piece of the class spider plant (Water it once a week or so - it's pretty low-maintenance!) and I hope it brings you positive memories of all the fun things we did this year! This class will go down in memory as one of the most unique classes I've ever had!! Thanks or making today amazing!
